The "WOW" Wildcats!!!

Is it me or are the Kentucky Wildcats looking like 1991 UNLV Running Rebels and the "showtime" Lakers joined forces to make this year's Kentucky team? Man this isn't just flashy running and gunning, this team is young but super talented.  Last night vs. St. Johns, Kentucky looked like an All-Star team that plays defense! Attacking the offensive glass, penetrating strongly, running the floor, etc. To explain what kind of intensity this team played with last night, between just 2 of the starters alone, the racked up 12 blocks. 8 of those blocks 15 rebounds and 15 points came from freshman sensation, Anthony Davis. His 8 blocks were a school record. Coupled with his sensational performance was a 26pt 9reb 4 stls 4 block performance from sophomore Terrance Jones, who caught a nasty dunk off of a missed free throw by a teammate....ESPN top 10. With that being said, 3 or 4 of the Top 10 plays today, were Kentucky!
I'm not sure if Saturday's game against UNC will be a competitive fight like everyone is anticipating....not if Kentucky comes out like they were last night! We'll see!

Tar Heels Squeak By...Kentucky Coming Up

Last night the game between #7 Wisconsin vs. #5 North Carolina, though both were undefeated, was expected to be a UNC win with a little ease, especially after coming off of a loss. Not exactly. Wisconsin vs. UNC actually ended up being pretty close. UNC couldn't manage to pull off much during this game. The Badgers showed to be very competitive, though they failed to get it going from outside, which to me, ended up sealing their fate @ the hands of the Tarheels. Wisconsin did a great job slow the UNC fast pace  game, and held them to 42% shooting but there was only one problem, they shot 35% themselves. Wisconsin is definitely a team to watch though, with more talent than advertised including Jordan Taylor and Jared Berggren. The Tarheels look very discombobulated in the last two games though. They might wanna get it together before their next match-up which is with Kentucky.

Lebron vs. Durant in the FFL....Flag Football League?

After a little back and forth over twitter between Kd and Bron in reference to their football skills, it was set-up and put into motion. The FLag Football Bowl between Team KD and Team Bron!! With Team Bron in St. Vincent St. Mary's colors and Team Kd in Texas Longhorn colors, the 2 and their squads got it on with various media outlets on hand, in a flag football showdown. Both showed some pretty decent football skills, but the visual of Lebron being a receiver in the NFL looked possible. With his size, build and speed coupled with the decent hands that he displayed, it makes you think that he could possibly pull it off!!! LeBron had a few picks and TD's and KD had a great TD reception over LBJ in the end zone.  To make a long story short, Team Bron won 70 to 63! Nice off season fun fellas, now let's get back to work!!!

Clash of Colleges #4 Duke and #2 Ohio State

The Tuesday night match-up between Duke and Ohio State promised to be a great game, going into Tuesday night. I rushed home after coaching my team to catch it from the start and everything, but little did I know, it was gonna be over from the start. Ohio State jumped on Duke like a bully in a school yard brawl and didn't get up till there was nothing left! Jumping out to an early lead Ohio State out played the Blue Devils on both ends of the floor. The most evident aspect of the game in which Duke struggled was their man to man defense. The just didn't look like they had the foot speed to stay in front of anyone on Ohio State's squad. With Duke loosing by 20plus, we could point out several other things that they didn't do well enough but maybe this wasn't so much about Duke's lack as it was about the Buckeye's outstanding play. Maybe they have all basis covered in their arsenal. Inside game, outside attack, slashers, passers,  on the ball defense, help defense, strength on the boards and a good coach. Maybe they just might be the best team in the country all together, if not, it sure did look like it the other night......much love to my Dukies anyway, they'll bounce back!!!

Red Hot!!! Nike Air Foamposite One "Metallic Red"

Poised to be one of the most sought after sneaker releases of 2012 for sure, the Nike Air Foamposite One "Metallic Red" is hotter than the sun. Already being one of the most celebrated sneakers by Nike ever, this color way puts it over the top. Keep up with me for exact release date in 2012!.....Question? If Penny's career had been longer, would he have had the best signature shoe line ever? He sure was consistent, I know that.

And Down Goes #1

North Carolina was the pre-season and current #1 ranked team in the nation, up until last night when they fell short to UNLV, an unranked opponent. UNLV came out intense from the beginning, led by Chace Stanback who poured in 28 points. From beginning to end, the Running Rebels were aggressive, penetrating the UNC defense and often kicking out for threes. Henson, Barnes and Zeller shot a cold 11-34  from the field which is a huge part of their firing power. Needless to say, the win shocked the college basketball world, everyone except the Rebels head coach Dave Rice, who's eyes are more set on creating a consistent winning culture in the program rather than defining themselves off of that one great win. That was his tone after the game but he did say that it was a great win for the program. Carolina better do some serious self checking seeing that they have Wisconsin and Kentucky this upcoming week.

All I Want For Christmas....I might Just Have It!

The NBA Players Union and the owners met yesterday for over 15hrs and as a result reached a tentative agreement!!! Finally! Even though there are a lot of little things that still have to be signed off on, the are expected to start the season on Dec.25th which will feature Bulls VS. Lakers and  Mavericks VS. Heat! That's all I need under my tree, some NBA action. That start date will give them about a 66 game season which should allow for an All-Star weekend as well. We may have just avoided the biggest set back that pro basketball has ever had. The loss of a season, the loss of fans and the loss of a national following altogether. Thanks Fisher and Stern for getting to the bottom of your minute differences and giving us the game back....hopefully!
