Day 3 of the Big East Tournament took place Thursday and was action packed as usual. Plenty of down to the wire, clutch play, overtime, buzzer beater, lead shifting type of action starring the tough playing Big East squads. Being from ACC country, I still have to admit that in recent history, the Big East offers the best conference tournament in college basketball. What's the recipe for this consistent, high-end play. Well in my opinion, the tough defensive style of play with recent Big East squads help to set the tone for exciting tournament play. The overall quality of the history between the programs between teams like Syracuse, Georgetown, and UConn, greatly contributes as well. Few years back, there was a Syracuse game that went to 6 overtimes, an unbelievable competition of will that will go down in tourney history. In the third day of this 2012 tourney winners include #2 Syracuse in a tightly played game with a talented but inconsistent UConn team after they upset West Virginia a day prior, #23 Notre Dame over USF in a overtime battle, Cincinnati upset Georgetown in a nail biter, and Louisville takes down higher ranked Marquette. So as you can see from just the number of upsets, the next two days are poised to deliver more of that good ole, can't miss action for us all to sit back and enjoy.
